Strategic Partnering Agreement key provisions agreed

Another significant step in the Future Submarine Program has been achieved with the agreement between the Commonwealth and Naval Group on all key provisions of the Strategic Partnering Agreement.

Defence and Naval Group are continuing to finalise the comprehensive document suite of the Strategic Partnering Agreement, which we plan to sign in early 2019.

The Strategic Partnering Agreement will govern the delivery of the Future Submarine over the decades to come.

The Strategic Partnering Agreement represents an equitable and enduring agreement that will support the partnership between Australia and France that is so necessary to the success of the Future Submarine Program.

In the interim, work continues on the design of the Future Submarine alongside the full range of other activities required to deliver this major program, including the development of the submarine construction yard, and the ongoing engagement of Australian industry, which will play a significant role in meeting Australia’s sovereignty goal for the program.

“I congratulate everyone involved in achieving this significant milestone,” said Minister The Hon. Christopher Pyne MP, Minister for Defence.
