Naval Group Australia is entering a very exciting phase and we are looking engineers who want to work on, and be part of, the largest naval procurement program in Australia’s history; the Future Submarine Program.

The pride instilled in those working on the 12 future Attack Class submarines is undeniable. With the grit and determination for which Australians are known, we will create our country’s future submarines and deliver the protection our nation deserves.

Electrical Engineers

Reporting to the Electrical Technologist Leader, these roles will be based in Adelaide, their purpose being to provide technical input into the selection of submarine electrical equipment items and components for the Australia Future Submarine Program.

Platform Land-Based Test Facility

A Platform Land-Based Test Facility (PLBTF) is being designed and built to host early integration testing of diesel generator sets, batteries, electrical networks and the propulsion motor for the Future Submarine. 

These roles will spend an initial 12 month period of on-the-job training in France and deliver the necessary sovereign capability requirement to Naval Group Australia upon return to Adelaide, their purpose being to contribute to the technical activities of the test system installed within this facility.

The SSN Suffren in 2019 – the first Barracuda-class attack submarine to be delivered by Naval Group to the French Navy.

Expressions of Interest – Design Authority

The Design Authority Engineers have the once in a lifetime opportunity to live and work in France for a three year period, learning from the best engineers at Naval Group. They will then bring back over 100 years worth of submarine building experience to Australia, as part of the transfer of technology.
